JOBS
The Theodore Roosevelt Association based in Oyster Bay,
NY, has embraked upon a search to find a full-time professional
president. The successful candidate will report to the Chair of the
Board of Trustees. To be considered for this position, the individual
should have demonstrated administrative and scholarly/historical
expertise. In addition, someone with fund raising experience and
nonprofit experience would be desirable.
Specific responsibilities will include:
1. Provide overall guidance for staff on all projects
2. Establish outreach to allied organizations
3. Provide direction and support for existing Chapters and development
of new TRA Chapters and activity centers
4. Serve as lead spokesperson for the TRA, especially with respect to
historical commentary, TR and the Association
5. Serve as Editor in Chief of the TRA Journal, defining content,
soliciting and editing articles, overseeing production through design to
printing and mailing
6. Develop an annual budget and keep the Association within guidelines
7. Consult with auditor and key consultants on financial reporting
issues
8. Consult with TRA committees as ex-officio member
9. Take lead responsibility for planning annual meetings in
collaboration with staff and local members
10. Engage in liaison outreach with authors, publishers and film-makers;
arrange joint publication and film ventures as appropriate; oversee
licensing arrangements, maximizing potential for revenue; make decisions
on media permissions
11. Provide direction and support for fundraising and membership
activities
12. Prepare an annual evaluation of staff and recommend salary increases
for staff to the Chair.
